Springate Makes News! First Entrant in AWF Tourney!!
Published Friday, 29th January 2010
The last time Zaquary Springate III was seen in the AWF Action Centre he almost started a riot.
Having being stripped of the AWF championship earlier in the afternoon for refusing to return to the ring so AWF fans would get a decisive decision in his championship match-up against Danny Dynamic Springate stewed in the back as AWF promoter Ron Hutchison declared that the winner of the afternoon's final match would be officially recognized as the new AWF champion.
When all was said and done, after a brilliant battle "The Untouchable" Don Paysan was declared the new AWF champion after he upended the sensational Alex Price via pinfall. That should have been the end of the story and the climax to another great afternoon of AWF wrestling at the Action Centre.
It should have been. But is wasn't!
Upon hearing the announcement that Don Paysan was the new AWF champion Springate stormed the ring and beat on both Paysan and Price. The AWF locker room emptied to stop the carnage and Springate finally left the ring under the threat of suspension, all the while fuming about how he should still be champion. As a matter of fact Springate demanded that he be given a title shot against Paysan.
"The inmates don't run the asylum here," stated Hutchison just prior to announcing the first card of the AWF 2010 season to be held on Sunday April 25 @ 2PM at the AWF Action Centre in Whitby.
"I don't know what they get away with in other places but in the AWF I do expect things to be done in a classy and civilized way. Springate cannot and will not hold the AWF, it's wrestlers or it's fans hostage.
To that end I have decided to not bow down to Springate's demands and let him walk right in to an immediate AWF title defence when we kick off the new year on April 25th. He will be part of the card alright but, if he wants another shot at the AWF crown he will have to earn it.
So, in the interest of fairness, and with all due respect to Zaquary Springate III, I will officially announce him as the first entrant into the AWF CLASS ACT INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT. If he is to get an AWF title shot on April 25th he will have to earn it by making his way through the tournament match by match. If he wins he will progress onwards until the final match on the card where the winner of the tournament will meet Paysan for the AWF championship. If, by chance, he doesn't make it to the championship match that afternoon we have added a little stipulation that I want to make perfectly clear. If someone else earns the right to face Paysan and Springate interjects himself into their business either before, during or after the match Springate will be suspended from the AWF for all of 2010!"
Springate couldn't be reached for comment.
